Introduction
The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is a land of legend, history, and culture. It offers its visitors a rich legacy of natural beauty, historical lore, and archeological intrigue.
Jordan is located in south west Asia, east of the River Jordan.
Jordan
has many historical and ecological tourist sites. These sites stretch from the city of Petra built
more than 2000 years ago to the modern city of Amman (the Capital of Jordan), with
its newly built structures and
buildings.
Jordan's many historical sites make it a delight for tourists wishing to experience the delights of Jordan. People who do not adore the history of our world today can enjoy the remarkable ecological sites, from forests to deserts, and mountains to valleys, lakes and the wonderful gulf of Aqaba, (Jordan's only port city).
At the lowest point on earth appears the Dead Sea, filled with its incredible salts and minerals which purify the skin and cures many health problems.
The Dead Sea receives water from the Jordan River which commences at Lake Tiberias on the borders of Jordan, Israel, Lebanon and Syria. This lake can be seen pleasantly from Umm Qays, a home for several European poets and philosophers.
South
of Um Qays lies the amazing Roman city of Jarash and to the west of Jarash lies
Ajloun which is the city where the Ajloun Castle was built.
Next to the Dead Sea lies Bethany Beyond the Jordan, the baptism site of Jesus Christ, and next to that is Wadi Mujib. This is the lowest nature reserve in the world with 1,300 meters variation in elevation, starting from 410 meters below sea level to 900 meters above sea level at the Madaba and Karak mountains.
Jordan has many other nature reserves including Wadi Rum Nature Reserve, Dana Nature Reserve, Shaumari Nature Reserve, Ajloun Nature Reserve, and Azraq Wetland Reserve (an oasis in the heart of the Jordanian eastern desert).
From east to west, north to south Jordan is filled with the needs of all its visitors. It is also a great place for visiting because of the hospitality and kindness of its people.
